Camping and PPE Gear
Here is a list of stuff we are asking you to bring.
It works best if you are responsible for this because if you buy it you know it will fit your body, style, personal preferences etc, or you may already have it.
Also consider having a "backup" if you lose, or wear out the first item, especially regarding the general purpose gloves.

PPE (personal protection equipment)
- General purpose gloves; you may prefer leather riggers gloves or fabric, rubber coated gloves CLICK HERE. Or both! Wear these when you are using hand tools such as shovels, sledge hammers and power tools. If your rubber coated gloves are a very good, tight fit, you can use them for bottle cutting using the wet tile saw.
- Safety sunnies and or safety glasses
- Sturdy shoes (foot armour) - steel cap boots are optional
- Sun hat
- Water bottle - this is an important "safety" item that will help you manage your hydration levels!... it is also recommended you bring some hydralyte or similar which helps with rehydration.
- Sunscreen - your favourite type
OPTIONAL
- High-vis vest or shirt.
- Steel cap boots
- Ear plugs
- Rubber (PVC) gloves for working with mortar, concrete and lime render. CLICK HERE
- Over-boots (to keep the dirt out if you are wearing shorts)
- Gum boots - for stomping in concrete (floor slabs)
NOTE: Any other special PPE that you need will be supplied
Tools (Optional)
- Tape measure 3m, 5m or 8m are good sizes (pick one or go mad and get all of them)
- Sharpie pens (one to lose and one to use!)
- Pencil (for writing in your notebook and marking on timber and other building materials)
- Notebook (for taking notes, any size that suits you)
- Tool belt - great if you don't have pockets
- Multi tool - can be handy but not essential
- Knife - can be handy but we will have some
Clothing
Be preapared to be in the sun ALL DAY. Take into account your skin's, "attitude" toward the sun. If you are the type of person who gets sun burnt then light-weight, long sleeves and long pants are recommended. And of course a wide brim hat.
Backpack
We recommend that you bring a small backpack or similar. It will be a handy way to keep your water bottle, PPE, note book, and other stuff (camera, phone, etc?) organised on the construction site.
Camping Gear
Please refer back to the main workshop webpage for a list of suggested camping items. Setting up a "good" campsite can make all the difference to getting a good night's sleep and having a good time. This will be different for everyone.
