White Cards Are Essential

All volunteers must hold a valid White Card (construction induction card).

Your White Card can be issued in any Australian state or territory, as long as it is nationally recognised and issued by a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) approved to deliver CPCWHS1001 – Prepare to work safely in the construction industry.

If you are completing the training in Victoria, it must be done in person (not online). Some interstate RTOs are approved to deliver White Card training online, and those cards are generally accepted in Victoria provided the RTO is legitimate and nationally recognised.

If you are unsure whether your card or training provider is valid, you can check the RTO number on your Statement of Attainment at training.gov.au.

Please bring your physical White Card to present to the licensed builder.

White Card Training - Tips

WARNING: Not All Courses are Accredited.

What Certificate/Card Do I Need?
In order to work in the construction industry you must have BOTH of the following:
  1. Statement of Attainment:
CPCCWHS1001 - Prepare to work safely in the construction industry

In all Australian states and territories in order to enter a construction area you must have a “Statement of Attainment” for the nationally recognised unit of competency named “CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry”.
  2. White Card
You must also hold a White Card, which is issued by your local state government.
How do I Know I am Doing the Correct Course?Check that the training provider:
  • State that they issue a “CPCCWHS1001” “Statement of Attainment”
    • If they issue a “certificate of completion” or a “Statement of Approval” or something else it is probably NOT the accredited White Card course.
  • Show their Registered Training Organisation (RTO) number.
